New Ultra-Low NOx Burner Introduced
Hamworthy Peabody Combustion announces the introduction of their new ECOjet® ultra-low NOx burner. After almost three years of research and development, including the use of Hamworthy Peabody Combustion’s SMARTflow™ flow modeling, and the resources of Hamworthy Combustion’s World-leading Advanced Technology Center (14 test furnaces/testing burner capacities to 300 MM BTU/hr), the ECOjet® emerged, offering ultra-low emissions with little or no flue gas recirculation. Every aspect of the burner from air entry to gas and oil nozzles to swirler was strategically designed, developed and tested. Read More… |

“Opportunity Fuels” Help with Rising Fuel Costs With conventional fuel (oil, natural gas) costs rising, users are turning to alternative fuels for all of their combustion needs. Among these “opportunity fuels” are waste and by-product gases that were previously disposed of by flaring, incinerating, or other, non-productive means. Hamworthy Peabody Combustion has been very successful providing burners and burner modifications to burn these fuels, including blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, and other waste gases. Unlike these gases which are usually limited to certain industries (e.g. steel, petroleum, and chemical), one such gas is often available to a wide range of end-users: landfill gas (LFG). ECOjet® Technology + SMARTflow™ Modeling Makes a Difficult Application Look Easy
The Challenge: A major petroleum refinery in Texas wanted to convert their 400,000 PPH Riley Turbo-Furnace CO boiler to a power boiler. This included new ultra-low NOx burners firing Refinery Gas. Other burner manufactures wanted to make major furnace wall modifications to accommodate their burners, as the Turbo-Furnace design has opposed burners firing at a downward angle into the furnace. Our Success: We fully met the client’s needs, without re-design of the furnace walls. Actual firing results of the burners “out of the box,” with minimum burner start-up time (less than one week), confirmed the design. Read More… |
